YANGON (12 May 2016) – Myanmar’s German coach Gerd Zeise is under pressure to whip his chargers into shape and perform at next month’s AYA Bank Cup following a string of unimpressive results.
Myanmar will hosts the AYA Bank Cup on 3 June against Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore which will be a straight forward knock-out competition.
Zeise had replaced Radojko Avramovic last October but since then has not delivered what has been expected with one draw and three losses.
His first game in charge saw Myanmar conceding a 5-0 defeat to Hong Kong before losing 4-0 to South Korea.
Then, it was a 2-1 loss to Singapore before drawing Lebanon 1-1 in their final 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
“We can be [AYA Bank Cup] champions because we have the host’s chance. I need the support of Myanmar’s spectators.” said Zeise.
