YANGON (27 Dec 2011) – Defending champions Yangon United have signed a year’s contract with sporting good supplier Dong Luc for the new Myanmar National League 2012 where they will be wearing the Ebet brand for the next year.
Yangon had previously worn kit from Thailand’s FBT.
“We see the sponsorship deal as a positive move. It shows that the league is developing,” said Yangon United’s commercial manager, Thant Sin Htoon. “The continued development of the league’s reputation and standing with spectators are vital to ensure the success of the clubs.”
Dong Luc have been supplying footballs to the Ministry of Sport and Myanmar Football Federation to boost their profile here.
“After surveying the market situation in Myanmar, we found that Yangon United have a large fan base, which we thought would give us the most exposure,” said Dong Luc planning manager Nguyen Thanh Cong.
“We want our brand to be recognised by Myanmar football fans and players. And because Yangon United is the reigning MNL champion we wanted that club to wear our brand.
“The club will also compete in the AFC Cup, the second-highest club level competition in Asia, which will boost our brand in Myanmar and across the region.”
