YANGON (24 Aug 2015) – With just five matches to go to the end of the season, Yangon United are firmly in control of the Myanmar National League (MNL) as they look to capture their fourth crown in five years.
Despite losing 3-2 to Yadanarbon, the capital-based team could afford to drop points as they opened up a ten-point lead over their nearest challenger.
Second-placed Yadanarbon may have closed the gap somewhat following the shock win on the road as Yangon fell for the second time this season – that too at home.
Now it is a question of whether the rest of pack can provide the much needed bumps to prevent a clear onslaught to the title for ambitious Yangon.
Elsewhere, Hantharwady romped to a 4-0 win over Ayeyawady while KBZ FC edged Magwe 2-1 and Rakhine United beating Nay Pyi Taw by the same score line.
Zwekapin United’s 3-0 loss to Chin United completed the week.
