YANGON (10 July 2013) – Champs Yangon United opened up a four-point lead at the top of the Myanmar National League 2013 when they edged Zeyar Shwe Myay 3-2 this week.
Despite falling behind through Si Thu Win’s seventh minute strike, the defending champions fought back off Kone’s brace in the 22nd and 45th minute for Yangon to take a slim 2-1 lead at the break.
Cezar then nailed the third goal for Yangon in the 80th minute for them to be two goals in front before Martin salvaged a late second goal for Zeyar five minutes to final whistle.
With the full three points, Yangon are firmly at the top of the standings with 36 points from 17 matches played as Nay Pyi Taw remained second with 32 points from the same number of matches.
In the meantime, Yadanarbon FC strengthened their place in the top half of the table with a 2-1 win over Zwekapin FC, with Djan’s penalty in the 72nd minute delivering the crucial goal and the points.
Zwekapin had taken a 15th minute lead off Zon Moe Aung before Yadanarbon replied with the equaliser 15 minutes later from Thet Naing’s effort.
