YAMAHA CONTINUE TO SUPPORT VIETNAM NATIONAL MEN’S TEAM

HANOI (25 Nov 2008) – Yamaha Motor Vietnam will continue to support the Vietnam national men’s football team when they signed an extension to their contract with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) this week.

With the decisions of the two other sponsors – Lotus Iron and Li Ning – to stop their funding, Yamaha Vietnam will now be the major sponsor of the men’s team and the Olympic squad for 2008-2010.

Yamaha Vietnam will provide the men’s national team with USD 250,000 per year for a period of two years.

VFF’s contract with Lotus Iron expired last month while Li Ning will cease to provide the Vietnam footballers with sporting kit and equipment following their replacement by Nike.

But at the moment, the VFF is struggling to find replacement sponsors for their two other brands – the V-League and the First Division league.

This follows the recent withdrawals of sponsors PetroVietnam and Alpha Petrol.
