YANGON (9 March 2014) – A late strike from Edison Fonseca ensured Yadanarbon FC stay top of the Myanmar National League 2014 as defending champions Yangon United slipped down to fourth following their scoreless draw at home on the weekend.
Fonseca made it his seventh goal for Yadanarbon in six matches when he fired in a freekick deep in injury time to beat Magmay 1-0 – enough for them to stay top of the table with 16 points from six matches played.
With Yangon United failing to get the better of basement side GFA, it allowed Nay Pyi Taw to move up to second at the table when they edged Ayeyawady FC 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming off MicheleDi Piedi early in the seventh minute.
Elsewhere, Chin United pummelled Southern Myanmar 4-0 as Zwekapin United held Zeyar Shwe Myay 2-2.
