YANGON (20 August 2014) – Yadanarbon kept their noses just in front of defending champions Yangon United in what is expected to be the closest call to the Myanmar National League (MNL) title in years.
The title aspirant had this week disposed of basement side GFA FC 2-0 – off goals from Zin Min Tun in the 56th minute and Thet Naing 81st minute – for them to remain at the top of the table with 41 points from 18 matches played.
With just four matches to play for to the end of the season, Yangon United kept pace of the leaders with yet another sterling performance to disposed of Zwekapin FC 4-2.
A brace each from Kyaw Ko Ko (15th and 27th minute) and Emerson (31st and 78th) ensured Yangon the full points despite Zwekapin’s best effort with two goals from Aziz in the 48th minute and Kentaro’s penalty, three minutes to the end.
Elsewhere, Kanbawza FC beat Southern Myanmar 2-0 off two goals from Zivkovic in the 37th and 68th minute as Manaw Myay held Ayeyawady to a 1-1 draw.
