YANGON (3 March 2016) – As Yadanarbon maintained their march at the top of the Myanmar National League (MNL) 2016, defending champions Yangon United made up for lost ground as they moved into the top half of the pecking order.
Yadanarbon edged Shan United 1-0 with the solitary goal coming off Win Naing Soe in the 32nd minute as Yangon United slammed Southern Myanmar with a comprehensive 4-0 beating.
The win allowed Yadanarbon to still be in the lead at the top of the MNL standings with a four-point advantage over Yangon, who has moved up to fourth.
“In the second half we defended the lead,” said Yadanarbon head coach Rene Desaeyere afterwards. “We have broken our difficult run in Taunggyi so I’m very happy about that.”
Elsewhere, Hantharwady United edged Zeyar Shwe Myay 2-0 as Ayeyawady United were held to a scoreless draw by Rakhine United.
Horizon fell to a 1-0 loss to Chin United while Magwe beat Zwekapin United 2-1.
