DILI (25 August 2014) – The AFC Referees Department started a workshop on Thursday to compile teaching material that will be used in all AFC refereeing courses next year in its quest to constantly improve the quality of its referees’ educational curriculum.
Ten Referee Instructors are taking part in the four-day AFC Referees 2015 Teaching Material Workshop which is facilitated by FIFA/AFC Referee Instructors Shamsul Maidin from Singapore and Ali Al Traifi of Saudi Arabia.
New software was introduced during the first day of the workshop followed by analysis of 2014 match clips that covered various scenarios and aspects such as penalty area incidents, handball, man management, severity of fouls, offside, teamwork and positioning.
Those attending will arrive at a unified analysis decision, which will then be the set standard of interpretations.
The workshop participants will also select the best clips and material so that it can be used in the 2015 refereeing courses to reflect the uniform interpretations.
High quality teaching material is necessary to ensure consistency and uniformity in referee education and training, as well as to ensure that all match officials can interpret and enforce the Laws of the Game in a standard manner.
The AFC believes the best material will help AFC Referee Instructors in their mission to empower the continent’s match officials to constantly improve and reach a higher level of refereeing.
The AFC Referees Department appreciates and thanks the AFC Referee Instructors for taking the time to take part in the workshop.
