HANOI (14 Sept 2010) – A workshop for participating teams for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 was held this afternoon at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) new headquarters situated near the My Dinh National Stadium.
The aim of the workshop was to give teams a better and clearer understanding of their obligations to the tournament and more specifically to the marketing partner World Sport Group (WSG). It is also geared towards giving the hosts – Laos for the qualifying round and Vietnam/Indonesia for the final round – of their obligation making this year’s meet another resounding success in the calendar of the AFF. Team representatives were given a clearer understanding of the seeding process ahead of the official draw of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 tomorrow at the Sheraton Hotel in Hanoi. In as far as the mode of competition is concerned; the only new factor is in the introduction of the away-goal rule in the semi-finals and final stages. Adhering to the WSG sponsorship obligation was also stressed where teams were reminded on their need to make sure that their personal sponsors do not gain prominence. They were also told that it is their obligation to appoint a team media officer and a security officer as part of the management group as this will ensure that the working relationship between teams, WSG and the AFF are as seamless as possible. The prize money for the biennial championship remain at USD100,000 for the winner, USD50,000 for the runner-up and USD15,000 each for the two losing semi-finalists. |
