KUALA LUMPUR (29 April 2011) – Malaysia’s Widiya Shamsuri is the only ASEAN match official for the FIFA Women’s World Cup which is to be held in Germany from 26 June to 17 July, 2011.
World football governing body FIFA have appointed three Asian referees and six assistant referees to officiate in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Widiya is an assistant referee and where she will join Allyson Flynn (Australia), Sarah Ho (Australia), Kim Kyoung Min (Korea Republic), Saori Takahashi (Japan) and Zhang Lingling (China) guarding the lines.
The appointed referees are Korea Republic’s Cha Sung-mi, Japan’s Etsuko Fukano and Australian Jacqui Melksham.
Asian representatives at this year’s 16-team FIFA Women’s World Cup are Australia, DPR Korea and Japan.
