HANOI (13 May 2010) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) are looking at being hosts for the FIFA Women’s Under-20 Football World Cup in 2012.
And towards achieving such an ambition, officials from the world governing body FIFA spent two days inspecting venues in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to evaluate preparations for the event. For the record, Vietnam had proven to be successful hosts for football events in the past including the men’s and women’s Asian Cup and the ASEAN Football Championships although they have yet to hosts world-level football event. In the meantime, HCM City have appointed Chinese coach Wang Nan to be their new chief coach of their women’s football team. Wang, the team’s first foreign coach, will replace Vietnamese coach Tran Tan Loi to lead the team during the second round of the VFF National Women Championships, which takes place in the city next month. In the first round which took place at the Ha Nam Stadium in the northern province of Ha Nam, HCM City finished at the top of the table with ten points after three wins, one draw and one loss.
