HANOI (29 July 2013) – Vietnam women’s team is in need of at least VND12 billion (USD 580,000) in preparation for the final round of the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup – slated for 14-25 May in Ho Chi Minh City.
Other than for overseas training trips and friendly matches, the money is also needed to increase the salaries of the players and coaches.
Under the plan, the team will head to South Korea (on August 28 to September 6) and then to Taiwan (on November 23 to December 5)
“That will cost around USD140,000,” said VFF general secretary, Ngo Le Bang.
A further USD 120,000 will be needed to fund the team to Australia on May 2-13 next year with the remaining USD320,000 to be used for organizing international friendly matches.
For the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Vietnam will be up against Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, and Jordan.
The eight teams will compete for the top five places to head to the Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015.
