HO CHI MINH CITY (6 August 2012) – The Vietnam women’s football team is looking at a better finish at this year’s AFF Women’s Championship slated for 13-22 September. At the championship in Laos last year, Vietnam finished third behind winners Thailand and runners-up Myanmar.
After finishing third last year and considering that they will be competing at home in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the team will be heading to China for a couple of polish-up games. They will leave for China on 31 August before arriving in HCMC just before the start of the tournament.
Prior to the China trip, the team will also play three friendlies against the Under-14 boy’s teams of Hanoi T&T, Hanoi and Viettel.
For the championship this year, Vietnam are in Group A with Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines. Group B are Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia.
