HANOI (24 Jan 2014) – The 2014 edition of the Vietnam Women’s League will begin on 20 February with the usual six teams taking part. The first round of matches from 20 February until 7 March will be held at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
The second round has been scheduled for 18 July to 2 August at the Nha Trang Stadium in Khanh Hoa Province.
For the third year running, the league is being sponsored by Thai Son Bac, an electric equipment trading company, and where they offered VND200 million (USD 9,500) for the champion team.
The second-placed team will earn VND150 million (USD 7,100) and third taking home VND100 million (USD 4,700).
“We choose to support women’s football because they have received little recognition despite their many achievements in international and regional competitions,” said Bui Dinh Te, director of Thai Son Bac.
“We hope that our sponsorship will play a role in developing the women’s game as well as in attracting more attention from the community.”
