HANOI (31 May 2012) – Vietnam Coal and Mineral won the 2012 edition of the VFF Women’s Championship courtesy of a close 1-0 win over HCM City. With two more games yet to play, Vietnam Coal have amassed enough lead at the top of the standings to guarantee the title.
In the match that was played at the Phu Ly Stadium in Ha Nam Province, HCM City were determined to pull one over Vietnam Coal but in spite of their tenacity, they just could not find the back of the net as the score stood scoreless at the end of the first half.
And relying mostly on counter-attacks, Vietnam Coal made good on the chance they had in the 60th minute, 2011 Silver Ball awardee Le Thi Thuong headed the ball in for the only goal of the game.
