HANOI (18 Feb 2013) – With a firm eye for a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) are already putting in plans to qualify for the Asian Women’s Cup in 2014.
For the qualifying round of the Asian Women’s Cup in May, the Vietnam girls are placed in Group C against hosts Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong.
Only the five best teams at the Asian Women’s Cup will gain a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup the year after.
A slot has open up for other teams alongside traditional Asian giants like Japan, Australia, South Korea, and China following the ban on DPR Korea for doping after the last Women’s World Cup.
But it is not only Vietnam, who will be vying for the slot where other ASEAN teams like Thailand and Myanmar have also set similar target.
