BANGKOK (13 Sept 2011) – Thailand missed the chance to play at the 2012 Olympic Games when their women’s team failed to win one of two tickets to London next year.
After five matches of the final qualifying round that was played in Jinan in China, the Thai girls lost all their matches – scoring only once and conceding 18goals in the process.
They opened their campaign with a 3-0 loss to world champions Japan, a 5-1 defeat to Australia, a 2-0 loss to hosts China and then slumping to another 3-0 defeat to South Kore.
In their final qualifying game, the Thais conceded a 5-0 loss to DPR Korea.
The two teams which qualified for the final round in London are Japan and DPR Korea.
