DAVAO (5 Oct 2010) – Six players from Davao City have been named to the Philippine team that will see action in the qualifying round of the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship 2011 on October 15-24 at the University of Makati football field in Makati.
The six girls are Kyrhen Angela Dimaandal, Janna Raizel Barcemo, Noreen Kim Maligad, Alyssa Marie Ang and Erika Lorraine Turtur of the Ateneo de Davao University, and Sheinna April Chavez of the Holy Child Academy of Davao. The girls aged between 12 to 15-years-old, were selected after a couple of rigid try-outs conducted by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) in August and September. Philippines will be playing against Singapore, Vietnam, Guam and Timor Leste in their Group A while in Group B are India, Uzbekistan, Iran, Jordan and Bahrain. Dimaandal, Ang, Maligad and Turtur had previously played in the prestigious Gothia World Youth Soccer Cup in Sweden in 2008 while the youngest player 12-year-old Barcemo was a member of the Philippines U13 team which played in Vietnam earlier this July. |
