MANILA (1 June 2014) – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) will be launching the PFF Women’s Cup next month at the Turf BGC in Taguig.
The nine-a-side tournament which is open to all clubs will run for two months, starting from 8 June.
“We see the potential of our women players and this avenue of high-pressure football will help them,” said PFF general secretary Edwin Gastanes.
Philippines women’s head coach Ernie Nierras, said that the formation of the league will allow him the chance to scout for new talent.
“This is an avenue for our national team players not only to compete in, but to be selected,” Nierras said.
Group A are Eastern University, Green Archers United, Sikat FC, Chelsea, and Mendiola FC. Group B are University of Santo Tomas, College of St. Benilde, University of the Philippines, Ateneo and Loyola Meralco.
The two teams which emerged at the top of each group will play in the crossover semi-finals and then on to the final for the top two.
