BANGKOK (4 April 2014) – Nuengruethai Sathongwieng has taken over the job as Thailand national women’s football coach, as was announced by the FA of Thailand (FAT) this week.
Due to former coach Jatuporn Pramolban having to also juggle his position as the coach of Tobacco-Customs, it was felt that the Thai women’s national side will need a full time handler as they chase for a place in next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
“Jatuporn agreed to quit by mutual consent,” said FAT president Datuk Worawi Makudi. “Our goal is to finish in the top five of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.”
The AFC Women’s Asian Cup will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 14-25 May where Thailand have been placed in Group B against South Korea, China and Myanmar.
Group A are world champions Japan, hosts Vietnam, Australia and Jordan.
