MANILA (22 April 2013) – Ernie Nierras, the chief coach of the Philippines women’s football team, expects his girls to win the qualifying group of the AFC Women’s Championship that will take place on 21-25 May.
For the qualifiers that will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the Philippines girls have been placed in Group B against Iran (21 May), Thailand (23 May) and host Bangladesh (25 May).
“My expectations are high,” said Nierras.”We expect to top this group in Bangladesh, then go from there.”
Only the group winner will make the cut to the final round of the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
