VIENTIANE (19 Feb 2010) – The Laos Football Federation (LFF) received assistance from world football governing body FIFA to develop women’s football in the country.
With the help of FIFA, a training course for Laos football coaches was conducted recently to improve their skills and techniques required for developing the game. Secretary General Soulivanh Xeunvilay said that the training course was equipping new techniques to football coaches from the provinces of Sayaboury, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Champassak and Vientiane. “FIFA is helping to improve Laos women’s football step by step, even though the Laos players did not perform well enough at the 25th SEA Games in Vientiane in December,” said Soulivanh. The Lao women’s football team finished their competition at the Vientiane Games 2009 on fourth after drawing 1-1 with Myanmar, losing 4-1 to Thailand, winning 5-0 over Malaysia and losing 3-0 to Vietnam in the final round-robin match. “They did their best for the country during the games. The result was not good enough but they are still committed to doing their best in future games, particularly for the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in 2011,” added Soulivanh. |
