HANOI (3 August 2014) – A solitary strike from Trinh Thi Hoan right at the end gave Hanoi 1 not only a slim 1-0 win over Vietnam Coal and Minerals but also delivered them their second National Women’s Football Championship title in two years.
In the match that was played at the Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province, Thi Hoan, who replaced midfielder Nguyen Thi Thanh ten minutes to the end, headed home a free kick from Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.
With the three points, Hanoi 1 emerged champions in the tournament with 23 points – four points ahead of second-placed Phong Phu Ha Nam.
Phong Phu Ha Nam, who still have a game in hand, will take on HCM City with the results having no effect to the final standings.
