JAKARTA (18 March, 2008) – The Indonesian Under-16 team got off to a winning start to their opening game in the Uruguay Under-17 League (Quinta Division) 2008 when they beat Rampla Juniors 1-0.
The winning goal was scored by Syamsir Alam in the 75th minute as the youth side from Indonesia began their campaign on the road in Rampla this week. Head coach Cesar Payovich fielded the strongest possible side with Tri Windu between the posts while the quartet of Yericho, Ferdiansyah, Reffa Money and Alfin manned the backline. Ismail, Feri Zainal and Rinaldi controlled the midfield with the strike force being the duo of Syamsir and Alan Martha. The failure of Syamsir to make good on the double chance he had in the opening first half allowed Rampla to dictate terms although both teams were tied scoreless at the break. The introduction of Sahlan Sodik gave Indonesia more pace and this resulted in the goal in the 75th minute when Syamsir capitalised on a goalkeeper error to slam home. “Generally, the performance of the players was quite good although there were still some things which they need to improve on as a team or as an individual,” added Payovich. The team’s next opponent will be against Juventude. |
