In the other match of the group which was played at the Berakas Track and Field Sports Complex, Malaysia was held to a 1-1 draw by Vietnam. After holding off Vietnam for long periods, Malaysia found the space for Ahmad Fakhri Saarani in the second half to give them the lead in the 57th minute. But just when Malaysia thought that they had the full points in the bag, came a late strike from Dao Cong Luan deep in injury time for both teams to share the one point.
