BANGKOK (15 November 2024) – Malaysia and Singapore emerged victorious in their respective friendlies tonight as Thailand were held to a scoreless draw at home by Lebanon.
Malaysia were 3-1 winners over Laos at the PAT Stadium in Bangkok while Singapore edged Myanmar 3-2 at home at the National Stadium in Singapore.
The Malaysians were the first off the block with Harith Haigal Adam Afkar scoring the lead after six minutes before Kydavone Souvanny drew level with a 33rd minute strike.
But two penalties after the break that was converted by Stuart Wilkin (64th) and Sergio Aguero (83th) gave the win to the visiting Malaysians.
In the meantime, Singapore took the lead after just five minutes through Farhan Zulkifli as the score stayed unchanged until the end of the first half.
Just a minute into the restart and Ye Yint Aung found the equaliser as Thina Zaw then gave Myanmar the lead for the first time in the game five minutes later.
A five-minute blitz at the end saw Singapore rallied to score twice through Shawal Anuar (84th) and Naqiuddin Eunos (89th) for the win at home.
On the other hand, the Philippines national team conceded a 3-1 loss to Hong Kong, with their lone goal coming off Bjorn Martin Kristensen in the 48th minute.
Hong Kong’s goals were scored by Matthew Orr (44th and 94th minute) and Everton Camargo (83rd).
