JAKARTA (9 Jan 2012) – Widodo Cahyono Putro has been named as the coach for Indonesia Under-21 team in preparation for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2012.
Following the resignation of Rahmad Darmawan as the Indonesia U23 team last month, there was a real need to appoint a new man at the helm to lead the side which had emerged inaugural winners of the HBT in 2002.
This year’s HBT will be held on 25 February to 5 March.
“We do not have a lot of time since registration closes tomorrow , so we were not able to really look at all available players. We will just have to do as best as we can,” said Widodo.
“In these few days, we are just sifting through all available players to make the deadline. We have not even decided where we will hold the centralised training.”
However, Widodo remained confident that his team will be able to put up a good showing considering the several quality players they have in their side.
