YANGON (3 Oct 2012) – Welcome to the cauldron of the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre! Over the next five matchdays of hard competition, five teams will battle it out to win only two available slots for the final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012.
The YTC as it is fondly known was built in 1985 but over the past year has undergone some major facelifts ahead of the SEA Games which Myanmar will be hosting in 2013.
But before the SEA Games athletes get to feast their eyes on the newly renovated stadium which is the pride of Yangon, the qualifying round of the AFF Suzuki Cup will get the first look and feel.
The Thuwunna has been upgraded to a 16,000 full seater stadium currently where it is expected that by early next year, the renovation will be completed to a 35,000 all-seater venue.
And with a new turf to boot at the Thuwunna, it will provide the qualifying round of the AFF Suzuki Cup an explosive atmosphere for what is to come in the premier football event in the region.
