SIDOARJO (14 Feb 2015) – The difference in standard was obvious and after their 3-0 loss to the Syrian Under-23 side, Indonesian head coach Aji Santoso was quick to admit that his team was outclassed.
As compared to their first game a few days earlier when the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw, this time round the young Indonesian side made just too many mistakes to be in the game.
“The Syrian team is definitely at a higher level than us at the moment,” said Aji after the game that was played at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium.
“We made several individual mistakes and that cost us the game. We were still in the contest at 1-0 down. But after the second goal, it was all the way down from there.”
Just eleven minutes in, Indonesia found themselves a goal down when Syria’s Yousef Kalfa slot home before Wesah Diam Agha grabbed a double off goals in the 70th and 81st minute.
