SINGAPORE (22 June 2018) – Shortly after conceding a 2-0 loss at home to the Myanmar Under-23 team, Singapore head coach Fandi Ahmad said that the team needs more exposure.
The Singapore U23 were handed the loss at home at the Bishan Stadium, with Win Naing Tun firing in to the top left corner on 40 minute for the first goal of the game.
Fandi changed tactics into the second half but it proved futile as Myanmar then added to the tally when Ye Yint Aung headed in the cross from Pyae Sone Naing.
“This is how we want to develop the players,” said Fandi. “Majority of the players (in this team) were playing in the Prime League last year (and only) some of them played in the S.League (now SPL).
“We need more matches like this; at least we can see the difference (between us and other such opposition) and improve. I am very happy with the performance of some of the players like Hafiz and Zulfadhmi and other players from other clubs.
“Hopefully, we can give them (more) opportunities and they can (step) up their levels.”
