KUALA LUMPUR (29 Jan 2012) – The Malaysian Olympic team will head to Baharain next week knowing that they will have their work cut out for them in their fourth game of the 2012 Olympic Games qualifiers.
With three defeats from their first three matches and without a point to their name, the Malaysians are under pressure to prove that they can still be competitive.
Ong Kim Swee, the chief coach of the Malaysian Olympic squad, said that there’s no other way but to be positive for the road ahead.
“We are not giving up yet. We have gone too far in the competition to just throw in the towel in spite of the three defeats,” said Kim Swee.
“The team is very well prepared where the several international friendlies have given the team a much better preparation when compared to our last game.”
But the loss in their last game (against Bahrain) could be a decisive sore point. Despite taking a 2-0 advantage playing at home at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, the Malaysian team went on to concede a 3-2 defeat.
The Malaysians will get into Manama on Wednesday for the match slated for 5 Feb 2012 at the National Stadium in Manama.
