HANOI (24 Nov 2011) – Following the failure of the Vietnam Under-23 team at the recent SEA Games in Indonesia, the VPF (Professional Football JS Company), the body charged to run the V-League and First Division Tournament as of 2012, have made several recommendations.
The first is to restrict the number of foreign players where from 2013 onwards, each club in the V-League will only be allowed to register three foreign players where they can only field two foreign players at the same time in a match.
Teams in the lower First Division are not permitted to use foreign players.
Secondly, efforts will be made to attract more overseas Vietnamese football players to play football in Vietnam.
Thirdly, it was also decided that a strict regulation in offering bonus for football teams be set. The VPF suggest that clubs announce bonus two weeks before football tournaments begin with the bonus pegged under VND 500 million (USD 25,000).
The meeting was attended by VFF’s Vice Chairs Le Hung Dung, Pham Ngoc Vien and Nguyen Duc Kien, Chairman of the Hanoi ACB FC.
