HANOI (28 Dec 2014) – Despite falling short of the intended target of making the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup this year, the Vietnam national side will still receive a reward of VND5 billion (USD240,000) from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
“The VFF have not changed our decision to award the national team. Reaching the semi-finals was a great team effort. Coach Toshiya Miura and his players deserve the bonus,” said Le Hoai Anh, the general secretary of the VFF.
Under Miura, the Vietnam national side swept past all before them in the group stage before scoring a 2-1 win over Malaysia in the first leg semi-finals in Kuala Lumpur.
But in the return tie in Hanoi, the Vietnam side imploded to give the Malaysians a 4-2 victory and a place in the final.
