JAKARTA (27 Nov 2011) – Following what was felt as a largely disappointing outing for the women’s Futsal team at the recent SEA Games 2011 Vivin Sasongko, the team manager of the squad has made a request that the FA of Indonesia (FAI) organize a Women’s Futsal League.
At the SEA Games in Jakarta, the Indonesian women’s Futsal team began with a big 8-0 loss to defending champions Thailand before succumbing to a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Vietnam.
The Indonesian women bounced back to beat the Philippines 10-2 before losing 4-2 to Myanmar in their final round robin tie. At the end of the four matches played, Indonesia finished fourth behind Thailand, Vietnam and Myamar.
“We needed a better development programme for sure and this was obvious from the performance at the SEA Games,” said Vivin.
“We must also look to have a Futsal league for women where not only can we have better players but also give exposure for the women’s game.”
