BANGKOK (9 May 2011) – Former Thailand national team manager Virach Chanpanich is ready to be nominated for the position of FA Thailand (FAT) president.
Virach, who is an FAT executive, said that should he be nominated later for there- arranged election before the end of the month, he would not turn it down.
“I am ready to be a candidate,” said Virach.
The proposed election was called off this week when the FAT found that several members had more than one representative while others did not have proper ID cards.
Other than Virach and incumbent Datuk Worawi Makudi, the other candidate vying for the top job is Pichate Munkong, the former chairman of Thai Port FC.
Virach pointed out that when he was the manager of the national team, he guided Thailand from outside the top 100 in the world rankings to No. 41.
He also helped them to five SEA Games titles.
“I am ready to help Thai football and want to make our dream come true,” he said.
