HANOI (15 June 2019) – A testing match against the junior Super Eagles has been lined up for the Vietnam U23 side as they aspire to land the elusive SEA Games football men’s gold medal later in the year.
After winning their second ASEAN title at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) are aiming the top spot at the biennial multi sports meet that will be hosted by the Philippines.
Towards that, the VFF have planned to play the friendly in Hanoi possibly end of September or early October, as announced by VFF general secretary Le Hoai Anh this week.
Nigeria took part in the finals of the FIFA World Cup in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014, and 2018.
The Super Eagles had also won the gold medal of men’s football at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.
