HANOI (22 June 2012) – The Vietnam national Under-22 team beat their counterparts from Thailand 2-1 in a friendly in Bangkok which also saw two players being sent off.
Both players were from Vietnam and they were Le Quoc Phuong, who was red carded in the first half while the other is Nguyen Van Thuan, who picked up his second yellow card at the end of the second half.
Following Thailand’s lead in the first half, Vietnam fought back with two goals from Nguyen Hai Huy.
Both teams were using the game as their final tune-up for the AFC U22 Asian Cup qualifiers with Vietnam being placed in Group G in Yangon against hosts Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, Korea Republic, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Thailand are in Group F where they will play all their matches in Vientiane against hosts Laos, Cambodia, China, DPR Korea and Hong Kong.
The qualifiers begin tomorrow.
