HANOI (4 July 2014) – Vietnam’s U-19 team have sampled Japanese football after finishing their three-week training camp in Osaka as part of their preparation for the upcoming AFC U-19 Championship where they will be facing the Japanese in the group stages.
Vietnam had six practice matches against local teams during the training camp held in Sakai city where they displayed an aggressive playing style using consistent passing under the guidance of French coach Graechen Guillaume.
The squad also maximised their training camp on and off the pitch by watching J.League games.
Coach Guillaume was satisfied with his team’s training and positive with his players’ experience of Japanese football that will be coming their way once the competition starts in October.
“Firstly, I would like to thank JFA for arranging this training camp for us,” he told Japan Football Association’s official website www.jfa.jp. “The environment was very nice and our players had good experiences for their future to play with excellent Japanese players.
“We could finish the camp perfectly in a very positive mood.”
The players were equally optimistic after their training for the continental competition where the top four teams will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be played in New Zealand next year.
“It was an excellent camp,” said Luong Xuan Truong. “I am satisfied with both of the training facilities and environment. We want to go forward to win…(and qualify) for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.”
Another player, Nguyen Tuan Anh said: “It was very productive training camp here in Japan, we played with good teams in the matches and the facilities were also very nice.”
Vietnam are in tough Group C along with their training hosts Japan as well as defending champions Korea Republic and China in the AFC U-19 Championship which will be held in Myanmar.
