HANOI (Feb 9, 2007) – Vietnam will host the U20 Youth Championships in August as part of the development programme for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) calendar this year.
Apart from member countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and host Vietnam taking part, there are expectations that several teams from outside the Asean football family will also be in Hanoi to make it more competitive. IN THE MEANTIME, a regional youth competition for U21 players has been planned for the middle of this year which is to be held in Ho Chi Minh City. Organisers have identified host Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia as the likely participants of several other teams from Asia. The U21 international friendly football tournament according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is scheduled for Oct 18-20. |
