KORAT (5 November 2024) – Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia have confirmed their slots in the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024 semifinals.
Following today’s penultimate group stage, Vietnam maintained a perfect three out of three in Group A with a thumping 14-0 win over Brunei Darussalam.
This follows their 4-1 win over Timor Leste in the opener and a 2-0 victory against Malaysia yesterday.
Against Brunei DS, Tran Thai Hu fired in a hattrick (2nd, 3rd and 27th minute) to be followed by a brace each from Tu Minh Quang (33rd and 34th) and Huynh Mi Woen (36th and 37th).
The rest of the goals for Vietnam were scored by Chau Doan Phat in the 11th minute, Tran Nhat Trung (21st), Nguyen Manh Dung (23rd), Pham Duc Hoa (26th), Nguyen Thinh Phat (30th), Da Hai Nguyen (39th) and Vu Ngoc Anh (39th).
On the other hand, Thailand were also perfect when they beat Malaysia 3-1 today alongside their 13-0 win over Brunei DS and then 7-1 over Timor Leste earlier.
Against Malaysia, the host took a 2-0 lead at the break when Atippong Munphlai slotted the 11th minute opener to be followed by the second goal through Thanawat Koedbangrachan just before the break.
Even though Abu Haniffa Hasan managed to pull a goal back in the 31st minute for the Malaysians, Thailand made sure of the win with a 34th minute effort from Therdsak Charoenphong.
The result has set up a decisive clash between Thailand and Vietnam tomorrow in deciding the group winner.
In the meantime, Indonesia remained perfect in Group B following their 3-1 win over Australia today.
Holypaul Septinus Soumilena gave Indonesia their first goal of the game in the seventh minute before Romi Humandri nailed the second goal eight minutes later.
Grant Patrick Lynch then pulled a goal back for Australia in the 20th minute but did little to prevent Indonesia from scoring their third goal of the game off Romi in the 35th minute.
The final slot for the semifinals will be decided tomorrow when Australia take on Cambodia while Myanmar will be up against Indonesia
