GIA LAI (19 Oct 2012) – Hosts Vietnam will take on Sydney FC in the semi-final of the Thanh Nien Newspaper International Under-21 Football Championships later today in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai while Malaysia will entertain Thailand in the other tie.
Vietnam won Group A of the meet when they beat Thailand 2-0 in the final game of the group – opening the score through Nguyen Dinh Bao in the 43rd minute and then Ngo Hoang Thinh’s penalty in the 65th minute.
With the loss, Thailand finished the group stage on second where they will face Group B winners Malaysia in the crossover semi-final. Sydney FC came in second in Group B.
