HANOI (Nov 28, 2007) – Vietnam have named what they felt will be a strong team to challenge Thai dominance at the biennial SEA Games which will begin in Thailand this week.
Utilising mostly players which have done well to qualify into the second round of the Beijing Olympic qualifiers, Vietnam have even decided to drop two of their young Under-21 stars in favour of slightly older boys. The two U21 lads who have been left out of the SEA Games in Korat, Thailand are Nguyen Quang Hai and Tu Huu Phuoc. Vietnam have faced Thailand four times in the final of the SEA Games in 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2005 and have suffered the humiliation of losing the competition’s biggest prize.
