HANOI (16 March 2012) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have shortlisted seven individuals for the two available coaching positions – as the chief coach of the national team and also of the national Under-23 side.
The seven shortlisted candidates are Phan Thanh Hung of Hanoi T&T, Le Huynh Duc of SHB Danang, Nguyen Huu Thang of Song Lam Nghe An, former coach of Navibank Saigon Mai Duc Chung, Le Thuy Hai of Hai Phong, Lu Dinh Tuan of Saigon FC and Dang Tran Chinh of Binh Duong.
Phan Thanh Hung, who was one of the best strikers Vietnam ever had, was successful as a coach at the youth level before leading Hanoi T&T to the V-League crown in 2010 while Nguyen Huu Thang won the JVC Cup with Song Lam Nghe An in 2003.
Vietnam prodigal son Le Huynh Duc was at the helm when Da Nang FC won the V-League in 2009 and while Mai Duc Chung might not be anywhere as famous was known as the person who led the Vietnam women’s team to two SEA Games crown.
Le Thuy Hai’s was the assistant coach when Binh Duong FC won the V-League crown in 2007 and 2008 whereas Lu Dinh Tuan led Saigon FC to the First Division title in 2011. Tran Chinh is the current coach of Binh Duong FC.
