VFF PLAN FOR THANG LONG FOOTBALL CUP IN 2009

HANOI (12 Dec 2008) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) are planning a massive football competition called the “Thang Long Football Cup” costing more than USD 3 million for 2009.

And they have lined Italian giants AC Milan, Asian powerhouse Japan and the Republic of Korea to play against the Vietnam national team in a friendly tournament in Hanoi next year.

The VFF and the Sports General Department plan to organize the international tournament to be called the “Thang Long Football Cup” to mark the 1,000th year of the establishment of the city of Hanoi – formerly known as Thang Long.

For the moment, the VFF and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are seeking sponsors for the competition.
