HANOI (9 Jan 2013) – Prodigal son Le Huynh Duc has been singled out to take over the reins at the new chief coach of the Vietnam national team after talks between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Hoang Anh Tuan fell through.
While the salary issues has been largely ironed out, it would seem that the difference in opinion between the VFF and Anh Tuan as far as setting target was concerned was the main reason as to why the negotiations did not pan out the way they expected to.
Anh Tuan was quoted to have said: “our footballers’ ability is still at the bottom, so it is quite unreasonable to set high goals for the national team.”
With the fall out Huynh Duc (pix), the current coach of V-League champions SHB Da Nang, has been selected as the likely candidate to lead Vietnam for the qualifying round of the AFC Asian Cup next month.
Vietnam are Group E of the qualifiers where they are up against Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hong Kong. They will play the UAE at home in Hanoi on 6 February before taking on Hong Kong away on 22 March.
