HANOI (11 Aug 2022) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have extended the contract of Mai Duc Chung, the head coach of the Vietnam women’s football team until the end of 2023.
The agreement was signed this week at the VFF House in Hanoi with Le Hoai Anh, the VFF General Secretary in attendance.
“My contract will continue until the end of 2023. The women’s team will have several assignments next year. In Southeast Asia, countries that have begun to invest more in women’s football, for example, the Philippines, are investing by gathering overseas Filipino players,” said Duc Chung.
“However, in my opinion, it is necessary to build long-term and sustainable plans. Vietnamese women’s football still needs to train young people in the country, as experiences from Japanese, Korean or Chinese women’s football.”
Added Hoai Anh: “This year, after the last AFF tournament, the players returned to their clubs to participate in the Women’s National Cup. From now until the end of the year, the players will continue to participate in domestic tournaments. We will propose to VFF to gather young players from all women’s clubs to gather for two weeks for training. Next year, the national women’s team has several assignments, including the Asiad, SEA Games and especially the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.”
