JAKARTA (8 Dec 2011) – The Indonesian Futsal national team has received a cash injection of IDR 600 million (USD 67,000) from the government of Indonesia in preparation for the qualifying round of the AFC Championship 2012.
The amount was confirmed this week by Andi Mallarangeng, the Indonesian Sports Minister, for the team under the guidance of Andri Irawan.
“Certainly, the amount will go a long way to preparing the team for the qualifiers. We have made plans to go to Uzbekistan where at this moment, we are just waiting for the confirmation from the FA of Uzbekistan,’ said Justinus Lhaksana,the deputy chairman of the PSSI Futsal Committee.
“We are looking at playing around two or three matches while we are there. But in case, we could not go to Uzbekistan, we have made plans to go to Iran. And we are thankful for the funding from the Sports Ministry as this showed that they believe in us and our efforts.”
The Indonesia Futsal team is currently in training with 29 players in the camp.
