BANGKOK (29 April 2009) – It was too close to call but in the end I AM Sport scored an important 3-2 victory over Rattana Bundit University as CAT Telecom took advantage of a Chonburi slip-up to move to second in the Thai Futsal League 2009.
I AM Sport who have been commanding in the last several matches, were again in form at the start of their match against Rattana Bundit, steering to a 1-0 lead at the half through Francisco Jackson. But while they managed to widen the gap to 2-0 just two minutes after the restart when Kitipol Ekjit slammed home, Rattana Bundit fought back with their first goal of the match through Tanakorn Piyapreechayut in the 24th minute. However, I AM Sport restored their two-goal advantage with a second goal from Jackson (32nd minute) as Rattana then rallied albeit a little late with their second goal of the game from Kirati Tosasut two minutes to the end. With the three points, I AM Sport are now two points ahead at the top of the Thai Futsal League against their nearest rivals CAT Telecom, who kept up the pressure with a 6-4 beating of Royal Thai Navy. With Chonburi stumbling to a 4-4 draw against Bangkok, it has allowed CAT Telecom to be on second at the standings. There was no stopping CAT Telecom in their match against Royal Thai Navy when they raced to a 3-0 at the break off goals from Guilherme Da Silva in the seventh minute, Tananchai Chomboon (18th) and Rogerio Moreira (19th). Wirayut Taveekan then added to the scoreline in the 22nd minute before Royal Thai Navy scored their first goal through Jetsada Chudej two minutes later for the score to stand at 4-1. But CAT Telecom made sure of the win with further goals from Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn( (27th) and Cherdsak Suntornsiri (34th) as Royal Thai Navy completed the game with goals from Jetsada (34th), Chakrit Deejai (32nd) and Surapong Tompa (39th) for the final scoreline.
