PETALING JAYA (27 March 2015) – Two penalties and a red card paint a heavy picture for Malaysia as Oman slammed six goals past the former ASEAN champions in a friendly that was played last night.
The team which had only several months ago made the final of the blue riband event of the AFF Suzuki Cup were clearly unprepared as the home team flexed their muscle in either half of a highly entertaining tie at the Al Saeeb Stadium.
Yaqoob Abdul-Karim punished the porous Malaysian defence with the lead after just 15 minute as Abdul Aziz Al Muqbali then converted a penalty three minutes before the break for the comfortable advantage at the half.
Three quick strikes through Qasim Said in the 47th minute, Abdul Aziz (51st) and then Yaqoob (67th) ensured that Oman were in total control as the Malaysians seemed to be lost on the pitch.
As frustrations continue to pile on the visitors, incessant arguing saw Safiq Rahim being given the red card as Oman then completed the humiliation with their sixth goal of the game through Mohsin Johar Al Khaldi’s penalty a minute to the end.
